Can’t find that delicious wine? Snap a picture of the wine label and Snooth Wine Pro will find it.

New York, NY (Sept. 21, 2010) – Ever taste a wine and wonder where you can buy it? Want to keep a record of your favorite finds? Snooth’s new iPhone application, utilizing innovative image recognition technology, allows you to take a picture of a wine label and automatically matches it to Snooth’s database of over a million wines. Once a match is made, you can:

• View the stores closest to you that have the wine in stock
• Compare prices and view maps and directions to nearby stores
• Add the wine to your Wishlist or Virtual Cellar
• Purchase the wine online through the Snooth retail network
• Read expert and user reviews and post your own
• Browse for similar wines by winery, region, or varietal.

“Snooth Wine Pro is the ultimate mobile tool for finding wine,” said Philip James, CEO/Co-founder of Snooth.com. “It can be difficult to remember an exact vintage and year, now just take a picture and let Snooth Wine Pro do the rest.”

Snooth Wine Pro is available in the iTunes App Store for $4.99. Users can also install Snooth Wine, a free, ad-supported version.

SUPER COOL! I JUST POSTED THE COMMENT BELOW ON THE MASHABLE ARTICLE ABOUT YOUR NEW APP (http://mashable.com/2010/09/23/snooth-wine-pro-iphone-app). I’M MORE INTO TECH THAN I AM INTO WINE, BUT THAT IS WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE SNOOTH APP – IT WOULD MAKE IT EASY FOR ME TO BUY WINE. I’M ALSO MORE A MORNING PERSON, AND IT’S 2 A.M. NOW, SO I AM NOT AT 100%; BUT I WAS JUST SO EXCITED, I HAD TO COMMENT!

This sounds like a brilliant app! I don’t have an iPhone, so I can’t test the app for myself. Does the Snooth app tell you what food a wine pairs best with (even though the wine bottle tells you that, but then again, might as well have all of the info in one place – right on your screen)? I love the recipe pairings on the Snooth site! In the future I could envision this awesomely amazing scenario: I pick a wine using the Snooth app and based on the information regarding the contents of my fridge supplied by none other than the fridge itself, I get the recipe pairings for which I have most of the ingredients – AND I get a grocery list for the ingredients I am missing. Can you imagine? That would make last-minute entertaining a million times easier!

Also, it would be cool if a store offered me a special Snooth discount – say for the “Snooth wine of the month” in my region. Are merchant partners straight-up liquor stores, or are there partners that are stores that also sell wine (like grocery stores)? I was thinking that if grocers were merchant partners, then maybe they could offer Snooth discounts for certain foods that pair well with the wine I’m buying – maybe the Snooth wine of the month.

I just keep picturing how easy the Snooth app would make my life when it came to buying wine for friends – either as their hostess or as their guest at a party. Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant. No more guessing which of two wines my friends would like. Then again, that would rob me of the opportunity to drink most of the wine my friends didn’t care for very much. “Oh! Did you not like Merlot? As a gracious hostess I will drink that wine.” ;) Seriously, though, when you’re running around getting the ingredients for a fabulous dinner over which you will slave for hours in the kitchen, the last thing you want to do is waste time and energy trying to pick out the perfect wine for your guests (sorry guests, I just want to pour my energy into making your meal fabulous). And seeing which wines my friends like when I run into the store to grab wine on the way to their party would be a-mazing!

And the “manage your cellar” feature is genius, especially for people like my dad who stock up on wine when the mood strikes but always seem to grab too much of one type of wine and not enough of another. If the wine is good enough, who remembers how many bottles were consumed, right? Did you have 2 bottles left of Chianti or 3 from last week’s party?

I now have to figure out whose iPhone I can beg, borrow or steal* to try the Snooth app.

* I am not actually going to steal a phone. It should be obvious, but you can’t be too careful what you communicate in print these days.
