Snooth’s iPhone Application

posted by Mike in Website Updates, Snooth

Just a few months after launching our iPhone-optimized website, we’re proud to announce the completion of our first native iPhone application. Here’s an example of using the app to find a mid-priced bottle of Pinot Noir near your location.

Like the iPhone website, the application is powered completely by the robust and growing Snooth API - which essentially gives developers unfettered access to the world’s largest repository of wine data. When combined with other powerful APIs (such as Twitter and Facebook) this is an opportune moment for developers to create a wildly popular (and potentially profitable) wine application.

The iPhone application is pending approval from Apple, but stay tuned for updates. Developers can follow Snooth Dev on Twitter.

Cheers!
Mike

Looks great. Can one view one’s wines or add a new bottle - using the iPhone camera? - to one’s account?

Looks good, I use it all the time. I’m going to be a broken record and add that I still want to see “My Wines” in the application :) Thanks for all the hard work everyone puts in!

Excellent iphone features. Actually I just buy my very first iphone and its so amazing. I like the design and color. Thank you for designing such a wonderful iphone. Interesting blog. Thanks for sharing.

gabandstephen - The ability to view your wines partially exists - you can pull up your wishlist of bottles you’d like to buy, but not the bottles you already own at the moment. However, thats a commonly requested feature, so we’ll look into adding it.

Camera support is something we’re talking to a few people about - if we do it, i want to make sure we do it well, so we’re looking to outside image recognition experts.

Ocean - we hear you. After these changes it will be easier to add myWines support into it - just keep hassling us and it’ll get on the list.

What we’ve been spending a lot of time on, and you’ll see soon relates to food and wine pairings - if you cook, you’ll love it…

Wow, I didn’t know there was an iPhone application, I’m gonna go snag it now!

Quickdex - the app’s ready, but we’re still waiting for apple to approve it (1 month so far!) - in the meantime you can go to iphone.snooth.com and use the iphone optimized website.

That would look great on a BlackBerry (which incidentally still outsells the iPhone).

So I’m not quite sure why everyone releases iPhone applications first, when more people actually own a BB.

Although it may not be an “official App,” it works just like one. When you visit the site you can add an icon to your iphone screen. I don’t think I even realized it wasn’t out yet!
