Well chilled, eh, Sherlock? Nice reading on a Saturday morn over here in Tokyo. Also brings back fond memories of wine prices back in the '70s and early '80s...

That's a good one. Makes me feel proud to be born and raised in Santa Rosa. I know exactly the rail road tracks that he is talking about. There's still remainders of an old cannery right near the tracks that is definitely from the same era.

Had several vintages of that Inglenook Charbono from the '70s, too. Was early in my drinking career but remember them to be very enjoyable.

Thanks everyone.

Pretty cool vinorojo! I wonder what's there today?

More notes on old Inglenook Charbono can be expected. A small vertical 1974-1981 is up for tasting soon!

Gregory,
Do you know anything about this wine I recently got on Winebid? It's a N.V. Opici California Cabernet Sauvignon, made and bottled by Grape Ridge Winery, Sonoma Ca., bonded winery 876, which happens to be Sebastiani. The bottle is embossed 4/5 quart so it dates back at least to the early 70s. Seems like this may be another of Sebastiani's "mystery wines". I haven't opened it yet so I don't know what it tastes like but I'd sure be interested in finding out more information on this bottle.

Very nice post. I guess that is one of the intriguing things about wine. They seem to have their own "stories" and "personalities".
