Snooth to Twitter
posted by mark in Website Updates, Snooth, Wine
Admittedly, both @SnoothPhilip and I (@snoothmark) were later to the Twitter party than some, but it’s good to be here. Yesterday we noticed there was some buzz about a new wine related Twitter account, @winetweets.
Winetweets is an opportunity for wine and twitter lovers to share their wine findings. Some folks were asking for links to purchase the wines in addition to the mini reviews. With our 2 million+ prices and reviews, this was a perfect chance to connect winetweets to more information about the wine. Now, in addition to exporting the text of your review you can Twitter it directly from the wine details page where you edit your review.
When you click the Twitter “t” logo next to your review you’ll have to link up your account:

From then on it’s one click to send your review to Twitter:

And it shows up on your Twitter home page!

The Twitter API was wonderfully simple to use. The entire integration took us less than a day to finish, and hopefully the growing community @winetweets will find it useful.
I feel out of the loop. I listened to Philip’s show he posted and that was the first time I heard twitter, I asked my husband (since he’s usually more with it than me), and he’d never heard of it either. Is it like a My Space? When you mention being late to the party, I feel I must not have been invited
Is there any way to set up your connection before hand? As you (@Mark) already know I signed up for twitter just recently.
@Ocean — ha, yeah I think Twitter is less popular than some of the other sites but it’s getting a lot of attention from a certain crowd. That said, you’re definitely invited to the party!
@Honda — yeah, following you now too! You can link up your account or change which account is linked from the Snooth advanced account page.
“Twitter is less popular than some of the other sites”…
I find that statement amazing, given the quantity and breadth of people who use Twitter. I’ve been using it for over a year, or am I just being washed away with the tides of the latest Internet fad?
I think Mark just means its less popular than mySpace/Facebook. Not that there are other more popular microblogging services
Yeah, that’s exactly what I mean. Twitter has yet to really hit the mainstream and it takes a leap of faith to really grasp the value it provides.
I think we’ll see it gain more widespread popularity in the coming months, but right now at least 80% of the people I talk to still haven’t heard of it.
